Project Description (Problem/Solution/Results)

Remodeling Need

The homeowners of a beautiful house on Ripple Creek Drive, nestled in a wooded area in Lafayette, desired a more functional and upscale finish for their basement. While the basement was already finished, it didn’t meet their expectations, especially given their love for hosting large gatherings and pool parties. The layout was impractical for entertaining, with the kitchenette feeling disconnected from the pool area and a carpeted floor that was constantly damp from pool-goers. The limited storage and functionality of the kitchenette posed additional challenges for hosting.

Design Solution

Riverside Construction embarked on a transformative journey to turn the basement into a rustic retreat perfectly suited for entertainment. The remodel began with the strategic relocation of the half bath, overcoming structural challenges through the installation of a new steel beam and bearing point. This bold move paved the way for a more expansive kitchen area, complete with a large island ideal for entertaining. An additional beverage, snack, and buffet area was thoughtfully positioned near the back door for convenient access from the pool. The team replaced the existing flooring with vinyl plank, ensuring durability and waterproofing while enhancing the rustic aesthetic. A new gas fireplace, adorned with real stone veneer and flanked by built-in units matching the kitchen, became the focal point of the space. The transformation was further accentuated by replacing the drop ceiling with drywall, incorporating a tray ceiling with faux rustic beams, and a carsiding ceiling within the inset. The same stone and faux beam theme was artfully extended throughout the basement, creating a cohesive and inviting ambiance. The guest suite also received a significant upgrade with a new shower and vanity, aligning with the basement’s overall theme.

Result

The renovation has resulted in a stunning rustic retreat that seamlessly blends with the home’s wooded surroundings. The homeowners are overjoyed with the transformation, eagerly anticipating their next pool party and the opportunity to host large gatherings in their newly refined space. The basement now stands as a testament to Riverside Construction’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities, creating spaces that not only meet but exceed clients’ expectations.
