Remodeling Need

The homeowners wanted to open up their closed-off, outdated kitchen and dining area to create a brighter, more functional space. The original kitchen felt cramped with limited storage, dated finishes, and frustrating layout issues—like a corner sink and a dishwasher positioned in the island. They dreamed of a more spacious kitchen with better lighting, modern cabinets, and an improved flow between the kitchen and dining areas.

Design Solution

To expand the kitchen, our team removed the wall between the kitchen and dining area and rerouted necessary HVAC and plumbing to make it happen. The new layout features custom full-overlay cabinets in a fresh white finish, paired with a darker island in Downing Slate for contrast. We added roll-out trays, wine cubbies, and a utensil organizer for efficient storage. A large quartz countertop with a subtle concrete-like pattern ties the whole kitchen together, and flooring was updated throughout the space. We also relocated the sink and dishwasher to a more natural location and brightened the room with recessed disc lights and under-cabinet lighting.

Result

The new kitchen feels dramatically more open and inviting, with clean lines, smart storage, and ample room to move. Quartz countertops, a sleek undermount sink, and light-reflecting finishes elevate the look, while the peninsula adds function without crowding the space. The integrated design flows seamlessly into the dining area, now complete with its own matching cabinetry and surface upgrades. What was once a dated and constrained kitchen is now a bright and beautiful gathering space for a busy family of five.
