Remodeling Need

A classic Lafayette home, showing its age, required significant updates. The master bedroom, while having an attached bathroom, lacked adequate closet space. Additionally, the homeowners, with their children grown up, found themselves with underutilized rooms, particularly a formal living room overflowing with books, and a family room that didn’t match the home’s overall ambiance.

Design Solution

Riverside Construction creatively repurposed one of the bedrooms adjacent to the master bedroom into a large closet, complete with custom-built storage solutions, thus expanding the master suite. The rarely used formal living room was transformed into a charming mini library, featuring custom bookshelves to house the overflowing collection of books. The family room received a significant upgrade to align with the home’s aesthetic, incorporating a wood ceiling and log siding on the walls. Additionally, all windows in the renovated areas were replaced to improve insulation, and the family room flooring was redone to enhance the room’s cozy, cohesive look.

Result

The renovation breathed new life into this Lafayette home. The master suite now boasts a spacious, organized closet, the new mini library provides a dedicated space for the homeowners’ book collection, and the family room’s renovation has made it a warm and inviting space that resonates with the rest of the home.
