  • Andy was recently awarded the MVP award at his most recent Remodelers Advantage meeting. Way to go Andy!
  • John and his wife had a 3rd daughter join their family 9/24. Congratulations to the Jordan family!
  • We are both happy and sad to announce that Amos Brehm will be leaving Riverside at the end of this year to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams. Amos has made a lasting positive impact on Riverside, and his contributions will be felt by both employees and clients for years to come. While we are sad to see him go, we are excited for what lies ahead for him as he focuses on his other business. Amos will continue in his role as Project Consultant until late December of this year.

Hiring needs

Riverside is currently looking for an experienced project consultant, project manager and estimator.

End of the Year/Holiday/Vacation update

As we near the end of the year please make sure to get your requests for vacation days in! Both divisions are currently scheduling work for the times around both Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you would like to take extra time off close to those times of the year, please get your vacation requests in sooner rather than later. Vacations are approved on a 1st come, 1st served basis. Specifically, we do need to know if you are planning on taking off the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or the rest of the week after New Years Day.

As a reminder, vacation does not roll over to the next year if not used UNLESS you are within your 1st year at Riverside. Later on in the newsletter are reminders of what days are paid holidays for employees and what days the company is not open. All employees will receive documentation of their vacation time remaining early October (or sooner if you request it from Jen!)

Trades spotlight

  • Mike Kingma has been working with Riverside for many years. He continues to do a great job helping us and being as flexible as he can to help us get the plumbing work done for our customers as quickly as possible.
Core Value Focus:

Communication

We listen to understand, clarify for accuracy, and respond promptly out of care and respect.

Great current examples of how this is being done:

Riverside customer Aaron Baker recently commented in his review "We were always well informed and had great communication start to finish".

Project Consultants documenting in detail customer goals and desires for their upcoming project.

Office employees and Project managers communicating on Teams to document job information in one place.

HCR field technicians reaching out to Joel, Connor and Brian to make sure all the information on the job is collected and the next appointment to continue the work gets scheduled.

HR Benefit Reminder

Sick time

Cold and flu season is right around the corner. Don't forget all full time employees who have worked for more than 90 days have 16 hours of sick time to use! Any hours that don't get used by the end of the year expire. A new set of 16 hours is available starting January 1st.

Joke of the Month

Sorry! 2 groaners for this month:

Not all construction work is equally enjoyable. - For instance, drilling a large hole is boring, but fastening two pieces of metal together is riveting.

What was the under-appreciated, often-exploited kitchen contractor's complaint? "I'm always taken for granite!"

Work/Life Balance Tip

How to get the most out of your vacation time:
  • Consider taking time off near a weekend or holiday to extend the number of days you won't be working.
  • Schedule your vacations early so that you can spread you vacation time off for the year.
  • Pay attention to how you relax best. For some people only longer vacations are relaxing. For some people taking more frequent vacation is important.
  • Do things that are inspiring and refreshing! See something, learn something or experience something new.
  • Make a plan before you go on vacation. Search out things, places and events to attend that meet your budget and vacation needs. There are a large number of local events and unique nature preserves that are free!
